Chelsea is said to have started talks with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this month about a possible loan deal for French left-back Layvin Kurzawa.
According to the Daily Mail, Thomas Tuchel's team has made recruiting a left-back a top priority during the current transfer window. Ben Chilwell has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to injury. On November 24, the former Leicester City full-back suffered a catastrophic knee injury while playing for Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League against Juventus.
Kurzawa joined PSG from AS Monaco in a €23 million deal in the summer of 2015. The 29-year-old has since made 153 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring 14 goals. During his six-and-a-half seasons with PSG, Kurzawa has helped the club win four Ligue 1 titles, four Coupe de France titles, and four Coupe de la Ligue trophies. However, the Frenchman has recently fallen behind Spanish fullback Juan Bernat in the PSG pecking order.
This season, he has only made one appearance for PSG in all competitions. Argentine tactician Mauricio Pochettino is said to consider Kurzawa surplus to requirements. A move away from the club might be able to help him regain regular playing time.
PSG star Neymar could benefit from a loan move to Chelsea for the remainder of the season. The Blues are looking for a left-back to give competition and cover for Marcos Alonso. Tuchel is also eager to reconcile with the 29-year-old, whom he managed in Paris, and give him the opportunity to relaunch his career.
Chelsea attempted to recall Emerson Palmieri from his loan spell with Lyon, according to reports. The French club, on the other hand, is said to have turned down the Blues' request because they want to keep the Italian defender until the end of the season.
Chelsea may decide to drop their interest in PSG's Kurzawa in favour of AC Milan's Theo Hernandez.
According to Absolute Chelsea, the Blues have enquired about AC Milan left-back Theo Hernandez's availability. During his time with the Italian club, the 24-year-old has grown into one of the greatest attacking full-backs in the league.
In the near future, Hernandez is anticipated to join one of Europe's elite clubs. This season, he has four goals in 23 appearances for AC Milan in all competitions. His speed, work ethic, and attacking skills make him a perfect Chelsea transfer target.
As a result, the Blues' interest in Kurzawa may wane as they shift their focus to Hernandez. Kurzava hasn't played much this season and may need some time to adjust to the Premier League's speed and toughness.
